Student Liaison

A Child's Place is a privately-funded non-profit agency located in Charlotte, North Carolina dedicated to assisting homeless children.A Child's Place is a collaborative effort between the community and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

The goals of A Child's Place are to:

• provide stable, appropriate education to homeless students
• provide support services to enhance their opportunities for academic success
• provide services to families to ensure long term stability and self-sufficiency

This part-time position reports to the Program Director at A Child's Place and involves working with elementary and middle school age students at multiple CMS middle schools.The Student Liaison also works with school principals, social workers, families, volunteers, teachers and donors to assist in meeting the needs of homeless students.The Student Liaison must maintain accurate ACP data on both students and volunteers.S/he must facilitate distribution of in-kind donations to students as determined by observation and referral.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

·Two years of college or associates degree from an accredited college with major course work in social work, education, psychology, or sociology.

·Two or more years experience working with children preferable at risk students.

·The ability to work with and value a diverse student population and colleagues in a supportive role and the ability to maintain confidentiality are critical.

• Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
• MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

·Valid driver's license and insurance required.

·Reliable transportation required.

·Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
